Episode 28: Leading Through Zoom

Jennifer Mulholland & Jeff Shuck
March 24, 2021

On this week's podcast episode, we're joined by conscious leader, beloved client, and dear friend Matt Navarro. Matt is the father of three boys, a football and basketball coach, a dedicated husband, and now, the Global Vice President of sales for Stanley, a new role he stepped into during the last year. As you know, it hasn't been the easiest year to be a leader – we've all found that in addition to managing through unprecedented times, we're having to practice using new tools as the world has gone virtual.

We explore this and more with Matt, who has always been committed to helping people reach their potential. We hear his perspective about leadership during turbulence and explore how he has helped large, multinational teams slow down, manage stress, and express their best selves. This is where his background as a coach helps Matt excel at work – listening to what people really need to do their best, and then creating an environment to help them do so.

One undercurrent of the conversation is our shared belief that the world is calling us to lead ourselves and others in a different way. The old system of win-at-all-cost achievement, top-down management, and hierarchical power hasn't worked and isn't sustainable any longer.

Matt shares some great insights about how to lead in a more service-oriented, selfless way — and shares juicy nuggets about how to consciously lead yourself, your family, and your team in business and in life.

During our conversation we explore:

  • [19:30] How to be intentional in a virtual world
  • [21:48] How to connect with people, develop relationships, and build trust
  • [25:24] Explore how to create environments for teams to operate at their best
  • [34:32] How to use empathy as a way to connect and understand

We hope you enjoy!

We'll be back next week with another great conversation with another one of our beloved clients – the conscious leaders of Starr Commonwealth.
